Charles S. Iwata, Jr. Memorial Annual Scholarship

Charles S. Iwata, Jr., is a graduate of the Kamehameha Schools Kapalama Campus Class of 1980. He was dedicated to all things Hawaiian-the language, the culture and his love and respect for our kupuna. This scholarship will allow students pursuing a Bachelors degree in Hawaiian Studies or Hawaiian Language to further perpetuate our Hawaiian culture.

This was established by the Mahi 'Ohana to honor their parents, Dan and Rachel Mahi, who made huge sacrifices to ensure a good education for their children. This scholarship was established in recognition of U.S. Senator Daniel Kahikina Akaka's commitment to education and the indigenous people of Hawai'i. Provides for educational scholarships to undergraduate or graduate students that demonstrate a financial need and has a GPA of 3.2 or higher. Recipients are strongly encouraged to provide a minimum of 10 hours of community service to the Council for Native Hawaiian Advancement.

Elizabeth Ku'ulei Bell Moloka'i Education Scholarship

This scholarship was created to honor the life of Elizabeth Ku’ulei Bell, a resident of Kalaupapa and former postmistress. She was diagnosed with Hansen’s disease and lived out her adult life at Kalaupapa, Moloka’i. She was President of Ka ‘Ohana o Kalaupapa, a group working to ensure that the stories of the 8,000 Hansen's disease patients are preserved.  This scholarship will assist students pursuing post-high educational opportunities that are residents of the island of Moloka'i. George Hi'ilani Mills Perpetual Fellowship Scholarship

This scholarship honors the outstanding professional and civic achievements of Dr. George Hi'ilani Mills who retired as the Kamehameha Schools' physician, and was one of the first professionally-educated physicians of Hawaiian ancestry in the 20th century. This award will recognize a classified graduate student pursuing professional studies in the field of medicine or the allied health-related fields. Applicants must demonstrate financial need.

This scholarship is in memory of Isaac Hakuole and Mary Kaimookalani Kamaolipua Okuu Piikoi Harbottle.  It is established to enrich the learning of undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of education, community organization, and/or spiritual growth. Students are challenged to create and sustain healthy communities, increase healthy relationships in the community, and keep the native Hawaiian culture and the legacy of Isaac Hakuole and Mary Kaimookalani Kamaolipua Okuu Piikoi Harbottle alive.
