Kiana Borengasser KSK’13, a Peru State University (Peru, Neb.), has been researching cockroaches to help find a cure for malaria. Her research centers on gregarines or gut parasites in cockroaches. She recently had the opportunity to present her finds to the Rocky Mountain Society of Parasitologists at the Cedar Point Biological Station in Lake Ogallala in western Nebraska. In addition to her studies, Kiana is a runner on the university’s cross-country team.
